International Film Festival
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) should be your ideal destination if you love watching movies. This film event which is usually held annually in April attracts more than 40,000 film fanatics from different parts of the world. Since 1981, the event has been growing tremendously, going to the extent of hosting more than 250 films from over 70 different countries. Seasonal tickets are usually available at friendly prices.
To each and every art lover out there, the Art-A-Whirl annual event that brings together the best artisans in the city, especially the Northeast area should be your point of interest. The Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA) has been the mastermind behind the event since 1995.
The Minneapolis Aquatennial is an annual event held in July, to celebrate the city’s famous rivers, streams, and lakes. Since 1940, the event has been bringing together different people from different walks of life to see the beauty that the city has to offer. Apart from getting to know about the water bodies, you’ll also get the chance to take part in different events such as beach volleyball, triathlon, tennis, subway sand, castle building, and target fireworks.
Basilica Block Party
To each and every music lover out there, June and July should be your ideal time to visit this city. The Basilica Block Party brings together the finest musicians from all around the city to the Basilica of Saint Mary. Since 1995, the event has continued to host musical concerts and different types of celebrations to honor the culture of the city. Proceeds from the event are used to maintain and restore the venue (Basilica of Saint Mary).
Twin Cities Marathon
If you would love to jog a little bit during your stay in this city, make sure that you take part in The Twin Cities Marathon. This annual event takes place during the first weekend of October. Since 1982, the marathon has consistently attracted new racers with some even dubbing the race as the “Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America.” The original name was however changed to Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, after Medtronic Inc decided to sponsor the race.
